There is no option to Deselect “Snap to Ground” which will allow placement of the Helipad on top of a building. Is there a way to get this to show in the “Properties” window or I am missing something? Is this not available in the World Hub?
I haven’t had to do this before, so I can’t offer any direct advice. But does Mamudesign’s video help any? Look around 13 minutes into the video. I haven’t seen it all the way through. (I’ve seen many of his videos – thanks, Federico! – but not this one.)
Thank you, @N316TS. I have looked at Federico’s video and found, just as in another video I had reviewed, that the Properties window does not show the “Snap to Ground” property. I have to assume, unfortunately, that the World Hub does not permit deselecting this property.
I have looked at a few of Federico’s videos before and have always found them very helpful! I also have three of his packages installed in my Community folder. He does a great job and is a very positive and valuable asset to the MSFS Community!
I don’t see a “snap to ground” option, even outside the World Hub. I only watched the video for a few seconds, but it sounds like that object you need to add is unavailable in the World Hub SDK, so maybe that’s something for Feedback ?
Interesting. I wonder if the Properties window changed at some point in SDK development? Federico’'s video and one other I viewed clearly shows a Properties window with many more properties and options shown, including “snap to ground”. I tried just changing the altitude of the helipad and it moves the edit box for the helipad but not the image itself. I’ll have to investigate further.
@N316TS, thank you! Apparently, I saw the CollisionRoad property and thought that is what I saw in the other video, so I moved on. I had seen you needed a collision object but had not associated that with the necessary deselect of “Snap to Ground”. You’ve explained what is happening quite well! I will mark this as the solution because it explains things, although we’ve definitely found a limitation of the World Hub (at least for now).
