This option requires the aircraft to have a “TrueCockpit” pilot camera defined to work
(Category=Cockpit, SubCategory=Pilot and SubCategoryItem=TrueCockpit)
cameras.cfg (flightsimulator.com)

On top of this, there is a known issue with the virtual cockpit not being hidden when this option is enabled. It has not been prioritized yet.
