How do I place Blender lights without point source?

Until a recent update, I was using Blender lights - both streetlights and advanced lights for 2024 - to create light effects for objects such as apron lights, taxi lights, etc. The exported light object would light the area around itself, but without showing a light orb itself. Now, no matter what light shape I select, there’s a glowing point light wherever the Blender light is placed. Don’t get me wrong - there are times when this is great, and I’m happy the functionality is included, but there are times when you don’t want that effect. Is there supposed to be a way to turn it off while retaining the ability to illuminate the area?

I’m exporting using Blender 3.6LTS and the 3.31 version of the exporter, and exporting to FS2024, SU2 beta (1.4.14.0).

Bump. This affects nobody else?

Hey Bill,

I do exactly the same as you mentioned, but unfortunately I have not had the chance to try this method with the 24 SDK yet. If the problem is indeed as you described then I am totally with you and thing the visible light orb should be optional so that we can uses it in the way you described.

I think I see the issue now. They’re calling this effect “lens flare”, which while not technically accurate, makes sense. Hopefully, the Blender exporter documentation will be updated in the SDK to explain all this.
