Please note if you have purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and want access to the current GA build on Windows PC, you must leave the Dev Alpha on all devices where your account has joined the Dev Alpha flight in the Xbox Insider Hub.
To leave the Dev Alpha:
- Launch the Xbox Insider Hub and navigate to Previews > Limitless.
- Select the Manage and Leave preview at the bottom of the page.
- Wait for the unenrollment to complete.
- Restart your PC.
- Launch the Microsoft Store or Xbox app and you should see an update available.
NOTE: If the update is not available immediately, wait 30-60 minutes and check again.
If you have joined the Dev Alpha on multiple devices or still do not see the update after leaving the Dev Alpha, restating your PC, and waiting 30-60 minutes, try the steps below:
- Launch the Xbox Insider Hub.
- In the bottom left, select Settings.
- Select Manage devices and select the X button next to all devices.
- This will deregister all devices associated with your account and remove your account from all flights on that device.
- Please be sure to restart your PC and wait 30-60 minutes (if needed) to see the update.
NOTE: If this does not resolve the issue, you can also close your Xbox Insider account by selecting the “Close account” button on the same page.

Thanks … But how about this scenario ?
it is neccassary to log OUT of Microsoft Store to enable the Update to the release version of MSFS2024
This disables my game pass hence making FS2020 Impossible to use
Logging back in Enables FS2020 but causes MS2024 to “UPDATE” Back To 1.0.88
I’ve followed every step, even to the point of completely closing my insider account. Even after a restart I cannot upgrade to the release version unless I log out of the Microsoft Store. If I log out, I can upgrade to the release version. This prevents me from using MSFS 2020. When I log back into the Microsoft Store, MSFS 2024 downgrades back to the dev alpha version. I’ve completely reinstalled 2024 several times, rebooted many times, and still no change.

@FlyingRaccoon
Can we have a solution to this please ???
I Still only have 2 Options …
1- MSFS 2024 Version 0.88 If Logged into MS Store and full use of my FS2020
OR
2- MSFS 2024 Current Version ONLY IF Logged out of MS Store and No FS2020
I have opted out, logged out and Uninstalled XBOX Insider but it Still insists on “Updating” me to 0.88 If I am logged into MS Store…
Hello @NightMercury358
I forwarded both your cases to Microsoft and will report back as soon as I have more info.
You’ll understand that we are not a MS Store support platform and I cannot investigate those issues myself.
Regards,
Sylvain
@FlyingRaccoon Appreciated thanks
@FlyingRaccoon, just wanted to follow up on your post from last week.
The Xbox support team had an idea to try to delete my Gaming Services software to force a reinstallation of that, but that didn’t solve the issue. I’ve gone so far as to try installing MSFS 2024 on a separate computer (after having completely closed my Xbox Insider account a week ago) with the dev alpha still being installed on that computer as well.
I’ve contacted Microsoft Store Support, Microsoft Technical Support and Xbox Support. None of them were able to help me, and they all said that I should contact MSFS support with a link to Zendesk. Of course I can open a ticket there, but would prefer to post here in case someone else is still having a similar issue.
After encountering the same issues as you, I just purchased the game on Steam. Maybe not the solution you were looking for, but it is a solution.
I’ve been discussing it, but it still won’t allow for Xbox testing. Thanks for the suggestion!
