Massive performance / CPU issues in certain locations in 1.2.7.0

Version: MSFS2024 Retail- 1.2.7.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Blocker

Bug description:

We have had complaints from our customers in a few airports after the 1.2.7.0 patch release of severe performance drops and stuttering.

Upon investigation we cleaned our community folder and loaded in default scenery without any of ours or anyone elses 3rd party modifications running.

It seems the problem happening when you unload our scenery and run default in these locations (NZNS - Nelson is the test case at the moment). It seems to get worse the closer to the airport center and significantly drops FPS due to some sort of CPU overload bug.
Looking at the CPU we are hitting almost 100% and a lot of pulsing and latency to the main thread in MSFS 2024 1.2.7.0.

We also noticed a massive amount of RAM is now being used. These airports were around 18-22GB RAM loaded in before the patch, we are now seeing 34GB RAM being used in some cases, which is too high for most normal systems.

Repro steps:

Clean Community folder (no mods loaded)
Load 2024
Spawn into default 2024 sim NZNS Nelson or NZCH Christchurch or NZNR Napier
Go to Dev cam or other external views and scroll in and out to the airport center. The further away the better the performance, the closer to the center the worse the problem gets.

It doesnt make a difference if we lower our graphical settings, this seems to be some sort of CPU problem.

@HybridNZ

This issue has been fixed last week on our development branch - I have just integrated the changelist in the equivalent of the 1.2.7.0 branch and I can confirm that the hiccups (CPU/GPU) have gone at that airport.
Unfortunately I have no ETA yet for the next patch. :frowning:

Best regards,

@EPellissier Any chance of releasing a hotfix for this? Seems to be affecting several people, and the sim is now unusable for me on 13900ks w/ a 4090.

Please hotfix this ASAP, it is ruining many airports and making it impossible to play.

It would be helpful to confirm that this is the issue many see in the above-linked forum post related to stutters. From the videos and my experience, it sure appears to be the one.

This is happening at so many airports in my area that have made playing nearly impossible for so many of us since the last patch.

If there is any chance of a hotfix, it would be much appreciated.

Also, let us know if there is anything else we can do to help diagnose, track down or prove the fix.

The same thing happens to me but in SPJC at the default airport the microstutters increase when you get closer to the center of the airport and the RAM consumption goes from 13 GB to 25 GB

Why we dont get a fix ??

Same issue exactly at Liverpool Airport in the UK - EGGP

Add KPWM to the list of slide show airports.

In the meantime … i really like to know / understand what is the reason behind this ?
Why is there almost no problem at the far away runways but the closer you get to the centre of the airport the worse it becomes; e.g. at EDDM … at RWY 08R there is almost no problem but when taxiing and getting closer to Apron 2 (quite next to the other end of 08R) it becomes a nightmare…

@EPellissier can you explain it ?

Hi guys, this is a DevSupport forum related to the SDK. The correct area to speak about it is the bug area over on the main forum.
Eric is part of the SDK development team and not the core engine team has stated that the bug was fixed and merged with the main branch and will be pushed next release. Microsoft will likely dictate when that release will happen, not Asobo.

@EPellissier

We can confirm this can now be closed, all test airports work fine now in 1.2.8.0

Thank you for pushing a patch before Christmas.

Enjoy your time off guys have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…
