MSFS 2020 airplanes - Metals and other interior materials are always reflecting exteriors reflections

Version: 1.0.72.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Low

Marketplace package name: FSR500, S4 and TL3000

Context: FSR500, S4 and TL3000, mounted from Community, in flight, avionic off.

Bug description:

The avionics reflections are always reflecting the exterior of the aircraft, note this is not glass… is the LCD material where the avionics render, the image below ilustrrates:

Is there anything I can from MSFS 2020 to avoid this issue? Thanks for any help in advance.

Repro steps:
Just load the aircraft and get the angle like the picture above.

Best,
Raul

Same issue in one of our airports (SKBO) 2020 package loaded in 2024 Community

Hello @SimbolFSReborn

Our Lead Technical Artist pointed out that this was already the case in MSFS 2020. I checked and indeed, I have something similar with the FSR500 in 1.38.2.0:

This became more noticeable in MSFS 2024 because the reflection cubemap is a bit more dynamic.
Try to strengthen your cockpit materials ambient occlusion or increase you screen material roughness to reduce this effect.

Sylvain

Okey, but why putting exteriors reflections for an interior object? before having all the hills, etc. the interior of the aircraft is there… should not that be what is reflected?

Let’s forget about MSFS 2020 for a moment, for my future conversion towards 2024 standards, is there anything we can do for interiors to have better reflections? we have this issue also with metal objects, take the throttle in the FSR500 as an example (is fully metallic), it reflects clouds and things that are not in its vicinity.

For future MSFS 2024 materials can we avoid this from happening? ideally we want reflections in relation to the interior and not exteriors…

Thanks,
Raul
