Hi, When setting a really low friction value the plane gets weird properties.
When not moving the friction value is ignored and full friction is available.
At higher speeds when slipping, the weight transfer on the wheels is calculated as if the aircraft has full friction.
Whats is weight transfer? Weight transfer in a car can be used to reduce the weight on the rear wheels which allows the back end of the car to slide out a little, putting the car in a controlled drift. This means less steering input is required, the car can get on power earlier and faster lap times can be achieved.
However we are not in a racing car, we are in a plane trying to keep straight in high crosswinds.
With the full weight transfer on the front wheel we lose weight and grip in the back, bascially turning your plane into a taildragger with the grip infront of the CG and becoming unstable.
Not to mention the full aircraft pitching moment and movement with 0 grip.
As the aircraft slows down, full grip randomly reappears.
Interesting video, but without more information, it isn’t clear to me the exact cause of this behavior. Relative to you item 1, what values do you have for the ground crosswind zero and max speed parameters? If they are at the defaults, you don’t have any reaction to the crosswind because there isn’t any. Displaying either the speed debug window or the Simvar watcher with the wind values displayed would help in understanding how much effective crosswind there is at any point in your video.
How do you know the sliding rotation is due to weight transfer and not due to some other cause (like relative friction values between the nose gear tires and the main gear tires)? Displaying the wheels debug window would help show whether there is a weight transfer like you are describing.
What inputs are you making on the nose gear, rudder, and brakes during this video?
You cannot adjust the friction per wheel, but MSFS can. For example, it is evident that it is different for a rotating or sliding wheel vs a static (stationary) one.
Without seeing the weights applied to each gear/wheel by, for example, seeing the wheels debug window, how is a viewer to conclude that the issue you are showing is due to weight transfer?
