Many small aircraft have a mechanical locking system for the nose wheel when
the landing gear suspension is in the up position; it is released by applying
pressure to the brakes when the suspension is compressed. Fighter planes of
the 50’s also worked this way. I see that it is possible to lock or not the
nose wheel in the .flt file; there is even a variable indicating the state of
the nose wheel. But there is no possibility to act on this blocking in the
development: there is absolutely nothing in the Events IDs…! As it seems to
me that it is something basic in the modelling of an aircraft, I wish that we
could find the possibility to block or not this nose wheel, as we can do it
for the tail wheel via TOGGLE_TAILWHEEL_LOCK (TOGGLE_NOSEWHEEL_LOCK)…!
Thanks to the Asobo team for clarifying the problem!
Hello to the entire Asobo team and thank you for your great work! Could you
please answer the above question; it has already been posted almost 2 months
ago…?
Hello @ChrisSMS The game already offers more
control on the nosewheel than the tailwheel. You have the steering events to
control its position and the max steering angle simvar to control the
amplitude. We don’t have an equivalent to the tailwheel toggle lock event but
you can implement the logic using the events and simvars I mentioned, or am I
missing something? Regards, Sylvain
Hi Sylvain…! If you find me the Simvar that can simply lock this wheel or
unlock it…, I will accept your answer…! But I will still try to find a
solution as you suggest…, and I will come back if needed…
Sylvain…, you are absolutely right! It’s me who was missing something… My
apologies for disturbing you when I didn’t look at the possibilities enough!
No worries. I’m glad I could help.
