[Question] Conflicts with VIP Charters and Free Flight

Dear Asobo,

I am reading the documentation here: Charter Service

and here: Commercial Flights And Passengers

On the 1st link it explains in order to have an aircraft set for VIP Charting activities / career mode, the aircraft must have the flag as [premium].

However the second link explains that for having a commercial flight in FREE FLIGHTS and have the passengers the aircraft cannot have the flag as [premium].

This conflicts with many aircraft types out there, specially biz jets, for example a CJ4, Phenom 100, Phenom 300E, they are clearly premium aircraft that are used for charter services, however when users are not in “Career mode” or in an activity (just a free flight) I am sure they would love to call passengers to come to the aircraft.

Similarly this would be the case with many turbo props: TBMs, Pipers (M500, M600, M700), King Airs, etc, etc. They would be totally suitable for charting services and at the same time, the passenger services should work as per the second link when on FREE FLIGHT.

The current documentation implies this cannot be achieved as they exclusively exclude each other, when in reality it shouldn’t.

Can this information in the SDK documentation be clarified? and in the case I am understanding this correctly, how can we achieve this goal:

A) Have a biz jet / turboprop configured for VIP charting with PAX, etc.
B) Have the same biz jet / turboprop configured for Free Flight with PAX, etc.

Many thanks for providing the SDK documentation with such detail, it really helps us to start getting the grasp of the workload and what to do to configure our products and projects for the best user experience.

All the best,

Hi,

The career sytem and free flight are totally independant. In free flight, you can select any aircraft that is mounted in your VFS (whenever it is prenium or not). But to be compatible with a specific specialization (in career mode), your aircraft must respect some constraints.

In your example, if you want to be compatible with a Charter Service mission, you need to specify the premium field (and others constraints). However, as Commercial flights implies the premium flag to be false, the same aircraft cannot be compatible with both those specializations at the same time.

The documentation implies that the career mode and the free flight mode are using the same system to board passengers and both require to set up a navigation_graph_passengers… That’s why there are on the same page. We will update the documentation to make that clearer.

Hi @Arzop Maxime,

Thanks for the clarification, now following your answer how can we then set an aircraft service VIP charters and also commercial flights?

you could have an aircraft like a PC12, PC24 or CRJ doing VIP charters and also commercial flights under career mode since the airplanes are suitable for these kinds of arrangements.

So under those circumstances, how can we setup an aircraft for career mode / activities so it can be used for both types of jobs?

In addition, does your answer means if I setup a biz jet for VIP charters, user will be able to call passengers on FREE flights regardless of the setup?

All the best,
Raul
