Hi all, when editing my Scenery Projects in FS2024 I get severe lag when attempting to move objects such as aprons, painted lines etc. This also carries over to moving nodes such as taxiway points. Dare I say it, it seems as though the lag when moving stuff is limited to the airport group in the scenery editor, as I also have it when editing the position of the ILS. I do not experience the same lag in FS2020 SDK latest version.
When moving scenery objects such as cars, buildings and such, the issue does not occur and there is no loss in FPS at all. I’ve attached a video below:
It almost seems reminiscent of the following thread previously started by myself in the FS2020 SDK. FPS degradation in FS2020 DevMode
If anyone could let me know if they experience a similar issue that would be great to know I’m not going insane.
Sim Version: 1.2.8.0
SDK Version: 1.1.2
Specs:
Ryzen 7 5800X3D
64GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM
RTX 4080
Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD
Latest Windows Build 24H2 Build 26100
Latest Nvidia Driver 566.36
Hi,
Have you tried to hide vegetation and vegetation details in the rendering menu:

Hey Xavier,
I attempted your below suggestion, and it does not seem to have any impact upon the lag when moving nodes such as taxi points/aprons.
Any more logging I can do to help you find the root of this issue? Happy to help however I can.
Morgan
Reviving this thread, but the issue remains in the latest Sim Update 1 Beta with the new version of the SDK installed.
I’ve even upgraded my CPU (not because of this) since the last post in the thread, and no luck. I now run my Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 64gb 6000MHz DDR5 RAM with a RTX 4080 and still get this lag.
I started a new project for another airport to rule out it being just on a particular project, but the issue followed across. I went back into the FS2020 SDK to see if the same behaviour was exhibited, but it was not.
I can’t be the only one having this issue surely? It happens with everything that has a node, when moving it in the airport group in the scenery editor. Apron nodes, taxiway points, light rows, painted lines etc. It makes visualising stuff quite painful when there is severe stuttering while dragging.
Hi @morganthomas757
Do you still have this issue ? It might have been linked to the update of airport lights, that have been optimized for SU3.

im editing a small airport (su3 beta) and every thing i try to do causes severe fps drop and stuttuers and i have 7950x3D, 64GB ram, and 5090
im just rebuilding gates, apron, taxiways and runways…
Yep, the issue is still here. Never used to have it in FS2020. Baffles me why it’s still a problem, as I’m using a 5090.
?? What do you mean?
I’ve had this same problem throughout almost the entire time the FS2024 SDK has been available. It’s not a hardware issue as I have the best of everything. I genuinely have no idea what causes the lag/stutter and none of the suggestions by staff seem to have worked. For reference it is just the SDK that stutters, as I run the sim itself at near 100fps maxed out at 4K. This wasn’t a problem in 2020, but dragging a node e.g. taxiway point or Apron node chokes the sim down to single digit FPS. It makes simple tasks very tedious.
Just in case there is any kind of doubt as to the issue. See below video showcasing two seperate issues:
- The extreme lag spike when moving around nodes/points e.g. taxiway points, painted lines, apron nodes etc.
- When placing down nodes for a painted line, after a while, sometimes instead of showing the CTRL+Click to add more points, the SDK will act as if I’ve just placed a single node, which makes drawing the line impossible. This happens towards the end of the clip.
Hello @morganthomas757
Is this still valid in SU5 / SU6 Beta or should this be considered obsolete?

Sylvain
Give me some time and I’ll try and replicate the previous bug and see if it’s now improved.
