I’m experiencing the same issue - they’re redirecting us back to the SDK Forum.
Ticket: 226881
I also tried installing MSFS2024 with a different account, and it successfully installed version 1.1.17.0. However, when I switched back to my main Xbox account, it ask an update and reverted to version 1.0.88.0. Not sure if this can help address the issue someway.
This has obviously nothing to do with the SDK/DevMode and not something we can investigate ourselves so the best I can do for now is stay in touch with them and share any progress on the subject.
I had this problem this morning and, while I was absolutely sure I left the Limitless alpha from the Xbox Insider Hub, when I opened it again today, I was still in the Limitless preview, so I was stuck with the 1.0.88.0 version.
I left again the Limitless alpha, and this time I could install the release build.
I managed to resolve the issue on my end by following these steps:
Closed my Xbox Insider account and create again.
Run the Gaming Services Repair Tool.
Executed WSReset.exe.
After completing these steps, the xbox keep installing version 1.0.88.0. Then, I just logged out of the Microsoft Store while keeping the Xbox app open, and the app automatically updated to version 1.1.17.0.
I’m not entirely sure which specific step made the difference, but everything is working fine now.
No, DevAlpha is not discontinued, both builds will keep coexisting.
Version 1.0.88.0 is also impacted by our current server issues, online team is investigating.
Trying the part where I sign out of MS store, but leaving myself signed into Xbox app seems to be a workaround. Rather than launching a 1.0.88.0 limitless client, its now downloading a 11.9GB update which seems to be 1.1.17.0.
As to what happens after the update, and or if it will allow me to enter, i will keep you updated!
Update: Indeed workaround for now seems to be to sign out of Windows Store App but stay signed into Xbox app. After the update, i was able to load into 2024’s live game (1.1.17.0), not limitless.
If you are part of the Insider Program then leave the program
Make sure you are logged into the Xbox App and Microsoft Store App
Update your Xbox App (if needed) via Microsoft Store App
Re-Install MSFS 2024 from the Xbox App (It will probably download the 10.5 GB Dev Alpha, this is fine for now)
After re-install log out of your Account in the Microsoft Store App
You should now only be logged in the Xbox App
After a minute or two, In the Xbox App, you will now see a Fix Now and “Update Required” on MSFS 2024
Start the update and download the Live Version (11.9 GB)
After the update, do not log into your Microsoft Store Account again (this prevents the 10.5 Gb rollback to Dev Alpha)
Launch MSFS 2024 and verify you are in the latest version…
Works for now, I don’t think this is a good solution and my personal opinion is that 1.0.88.0 should just be discontinued. Unless there is a solution for this, but it looks like my profile is hard-locked to Dev Alpha.
I can confirm this method does the job.
But you can’t sign back into MS Store anymore cuz if you do so the sim will be updated back to 1.0.88 again…
We definitely need a fix for it…
