[SU9] Flight model changes? excessive turbulence, and other effects

Dear Asobo, Something has changed with SU9 regarding flight models? or
environment forces? I am not using yet the new CFD or new prop options… but
testing the last update 1.25.5.0 there seems to be an excessive amount of
turbulence when flying over land… even with zero wind and clear weather…
this was not the case with SU8… I think you guys need to run some tests…
something has changed dramatically here and might bring some instabilities…
All the best, Raul

Same issue here.

Hello. There has been changes in the atmosphere model regarding when
turbulences are appearing. It used to be mainly guided by air temperature
before, it is now more complex. Turbulences will now depend more on the ground
temperature and how uniform it is. The are more by clear skies, when the sun
is high, when you’re flying above small crops, cities, etc… The flight model
side has not changed and turbulences will have the same effect on your plane.
It’s only when and where they are present that changed. Regards, Sylvain

Hi Sylvain, Thanks again for the quick feedback, I am experiencing a lot of
shakes in flight on a flat terrain, clear weather, no wind… air temperature
standard / default… This is a typical test: EGKA (Shoreham), 10am, I fly out
to the sea… air smooth as expected from the clear weather and no wind… then
I fly in land around the beach (which is incredible flat) and the aircraft is
jumping like a kangaroo… TOO Strong in my view… I have flu this route in
real world many times, under the same weather conditions, clear skies, low wind
(1kts) and I have never experienced such amount of turbulence, quiet frankly
if I did, I would have feel sick straight away…

I don’t see any way to change
the “ground temperature” on the weather settings, only the air temperature…
so how can I influence the ground temperature? I don’t know guys, something
really doesn’t feel right about this, the amount of shakes between 1,000 to
2,000 feet really feels very excessive… too choppy and constant… Thanks for
taking time to read my feedback. Best, Raul

Whether turbulences are too strong or not is a valid discussion but it doesn’t
belong here as it’s not SDK related. I see you have created a similar
discussion on the forums, it’s being followed and if we have an overwhelming
feedback saying there’s a problem, I’m sure it will be considered. Regards,
Sylvain

Thanks Sylvain, I wanted to open it here too in case it was some change in the
SDK, etc. that could be discovered, etc. Is it correct to assume the ground
temperature is not possible to be controlled by us as developers or by users?
In addition it might be worth adding in the future a turbulence setting for
the users so they can tweak it… All the best, Raul
