A day or two ago, there was a submission that was “In review,” and it stayed there for a few days. It got knocked off the list, maybe today, and I didn’t manage to get a screenshot or remember what airport it was. But I did notice that it was “In review” for longer than average.
The most complicated airport I submitted got approved in one day. The second-most complicated airport I submitted got approved in two days. This airport was sitting in review for longer than that.
There is no page on the end user’s side to look for “In review” airports. I did some snooping around, and I was unable to find the airport I’ve been talking about. But I did find two that have been in review for way too long:
It makes me wonder if the moderators have a dashboard on their side with a queue of items they have previously claimed. There needs to be some kind of workflow and potentially automation on their side in order to ensure that submitted airports do not get lost. Perhaps the moderator should be notified several times, and if they don’t review it in x days, it should be un-claimed again and move to the top of the unclaimed queue (just in case a moderator is on vacation or leaves the company). I can’t imagine how demoralizing it must be for some users to work hard, submit something, and then never have it looked at.
I would take solace that it’s probably an accident. The World Hub moderators don’t seem to be mean or want to do this out of spite.
Unfortunately, one of those developers tried to ask about the status of their submission and the moderator never wrote back. (I’m sure we’ll get email notifications one of these days. I’m guessing there’s further approvals they have to go through.)
My hope is that Nicolas sees this one too and escalates it to them.
But… ultimately, we can’t be the ones to hold this process together. It took me 40 minutes to go through 300 profiles looking for the submission, and i never found it. (There are more than 300 users.)
Thank you, Nicolas! There is one more submission that was “In Review” from just a few days ago that I could not find. Maybe the reason I couldn’t find it is because the moderators approved it after it fell off the “Latest submissions” page. But, maybe I couldn’t find it because the user who submitted it has an ID above 300. (To find the two submissions I did, I basically went to the page of user 1, then user 2, then user 3, etc. And I stopped at 300.) If there is no tool on your end, I’m wondering if the underlying database could be queried for anything else that’s still “In Review” just to make sure. In the long run, I hope that there will be a tool and processes in place to prevent this from happening.
