The project editor should override the content manager!

Project Editor is not overriding the content manager product!

If you want to load a project to update and you happen to have a store copy in the content manager either from stream or community folder these should be ignored, and the project should be the parent. But in MSFS2024 this is not the case, and I have to make sure I have nothing active in the content manager first. I lost 30 minutes today as I could not figure out why my project was not updating! Hope to see this get fixed as MSFS 2020 works correctly!

Hello @Flysimware

This should not occur.
Does the package have the exact same name?
Is the package showing the “edited” tag in the project editor when you open it?

Sylvain

Yes I always have the same name.
Yes, I can see edited. I think last time I did not go to the configure page so I ended up loading the content manager product.

I noticed today is I can select the community or the project from the configure section. Since we have variation in 2024, Selecting the correct variation that goes to my project is working.

So not sure if this is what 2024 should do but it works for me now that I know I need to select the correct project variation.

Hello @Flysimware

Is the community package a 2020 version of the package by any chance?
Or is it exactly the package you have built from your 2024 project.

The only way I could replicate this is by having a 2020 version of the package mounted, which will then be listed as a variation of the similar 2024 aircraft.
For example, when mounting the 2020 version of the Da62 on 2024:

Hi @FlyingRaccoon,

Yes.

No.

My last test I was mounting a 2020 product with same product name in the community folder or a 2020 content product with the same name and they show as a variant. But this is ok as it all makes sense now that the 2024 sim has variant options.

I just did not notice this the very first time and was confused why I had the 2020 loaded in the sim when i had a 2024 native project loaded. I had just loaded directly into the world without looking at the variant options. Not a big deal now as I see 2024 does not need to override because it has this feature, where 2020 needed an override method.

Ok so this is the expected behavior then.
Still I’ve notified our UI designer so they can review this and see if this is something they want to change.

Sylvain
