Very confused about Aircraft LODs on 1.0.86.0

As per todays update changelog: “Adaptive detail LOD factor does not affect User aircraft anymore”

My aircraft (2x 1st party FS24 Aircraft) has 8 external LODs and 4 internal LODs, that we had to make to comply with the Asobo guidelines as per the SDK.

  • 1st aircraft is modular, and LOD rules continue to be enforced. LODs change as expected.
  • 2nd aircraft is NOT modular, built with FS24, both cockpit and exterior are stuck in LOD0.
  • My other aircraft product has a single external LOD, single internal LOD, non modular but internal lod is culling at a distance.

So I’m very confused what this change is all about. Are aircraft now ONLY supposed to rendering LOD0? Is that really the preferred way? We certainly don’t want to be rendering +2M polys at the same time (and whats the point of Modularity anyways?)…

It all seems very inconsistent, so any clarity on what the LOD guidelines regarding aircraft is now would be appreciated. We need to address these LOD issues ASAP as we need to deliver by launch day. Today’s changelog title is not clear enough in what has changed.

There is a hotfix coming

The thread is referring to scenery - not aircraft.

“Adaptive detail LOD factor does not affect User aircraft” on today’s changelog is what’s confusing to me. Different aircraft schema seem to be reacting differently to lods.

Hello @vantech

This is referring to a dynamic part of the LOD evaluation.
Screen size is scaled using a factor that depends on graphics settings and performances.
Typically, when struggling to reach the frame rate target, LODs are progressively lowered using this factor.
This change was removing this factor is user aircraft LOD evaluation.
