Will Dark Screens Be Fixed on 2020 Planes?

Oh, it is rather disappointing in its simplicity …

	<Component ID="FN333_GAU_M655_FIX" Node="FN333_GAU_M655">
		<UseTemplate Name="ASOBO_GT_Material_Emissive_Code">
			<EMISSIVE_CODE>1</EMISSIVE_CODE>
		</UseTemplate>
	</Component>

In some instances I have used this:

	<Component ID="FN333_GAU_EI_FIX" Node="FN333_GAU_EI">
		<UseTemplate Name="ASOBO_GT_Material_Emissive_Code">
			<EMISSIVE_CODE>(A:CIRCUIT ON:11,bool) 0.5 *</EMISSIVE_CODE>
		</UseTemplate>
	</Component>

This is meant for backlighted LCD screens, but the values just yield vastly different results in MSFS2024. Considering these are in range of the floodlighting for me, I am going to let it pass.
Applied Emissive 1 template to the GNS430 screen too. It is a bit erratic but better than nothing.

Asobo any date for fixing that issue?
This is a blocking situation because many aircraft with our GTN750 are usable only at night. We have many support requests about that and can’t do anything on our side.

as a MSFS2024 user, I can confirm that this is a big issue. I copied a bunch of MSFS2020 aircraft from different developers into the MSFS2024 community folder and screens are way too dark during the day - unreadable really.

For an aircraft like the Aerosoft CRJ, this basically means that they are unflyable in 2024 because all the screens are black.

And that, despite constant reassurances from the MS/Asobo team that there would be backwards compatibility. Should not have been released in this way, in my humble opinion…

You are awesome! Many thanks.

Hi Eric,

A little bit disappointed. This major issue that breaks the compatibility is not fixed in v1.1.9.0
Is there any date for a fix or a workaround that could be used globally (without asking each aircraft dev to fix it in their package)?
Thanks for your understanding

Hi,
Any idea how to do on GTN750 from PMS? This issue is freak me out on JPL C152.
Thank you.

Bump Bump on this… it is a CRITICAL ERROR That’s rendering many addons un useable

No need to constantly bump this topic :stuck_out_tongue:
As a reminder: DevSupport is for add-on developers, not players.

We are aware of this issue but unfortunately it is tricky to fix the behavior for those planes that did not plug into the MSFS 2020 day/night cycle. And since there were many ways to plug into the system, it is equally complex to detect those planes.

Anyway, we are still looking into this but there is no ETA yet.

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo

Er I AM a Developer Sir… Have been since FlightSim 4 !
Also, Appreciate you dont like the Bumps but “Sometimes” its like we just dont get listened to …

If I’m not mistaken, it looks like the Time Of Day variable is going by UTC and not local time.

Apologies for not being clear enough - my comment regarding developers & players was for GWPH2336 who reported the CRJ issue “as an MSFS 2024 user”.

As for me not being able to give you an ETA on a fix for this issue, I am afraid you won’t get better information right now. Hopefully the involvement of the SDK team here shows that you are listened to?

Best regards,

We do absolutely plug into the day/night cycle, and our MFS20 aircraft still have screens that are way too dim.

It sounds like if we conduct a fix, it’s likely to result in breaking when the platform submits a fix, so we’re holding off until we know how to handle this.

Can you please tell me which of your aircraft I should use to check the issue?
Also, are you doing anything special to set the emissive of your screens?

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo

@EPellissier
Not sure who this was aimed at ?
However our Blackbox BN2T … with the GTN 750 installed
Is Fully working as designed in FS2020 -
But the Screen is barely visible in FS2024 -
we are certain this applies to ANY imported aircraft using the 750

The message was aimed to anyone still reporting issues here. :wink:
Regarding the GTN 750, have you installed the MSFS 2020 or the MSFS 2024 version of the PMS add-on?

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo

I was totally Unaware of a FS2024 version of the GTN750 ???
Where can this be found ?

I just had a look on their website: https://pms50.com/fs2020/gtn750/pms50-gtn750_2024.zip

Haven’t tested it myself though.

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo

Thanks … I will take a look and let ya know

@EPellissier
Eric I just installed the FS2024 Version and have the same results unfortunately. I dont think it is the fault of the 750 system as we have the same result on other (Previously working) Gauges … Take a look at our WX Radar alongside the 750 in this screen cap

This is Daytime… with all Avionics and lighting on as normal

I just filed this bug, E:TIME OF DAY is offset and that seems to explain at least some of the problem in my aircraft. It might be the full fix even.

Apologies to the 3rd party developers and the asobo team for reporting my experiences as a user. I am happy to see the discussion though. I promise to not report other bugs/issues via this channel then.
