Working on both 2020 and 2024 scenes

Is it mandatory that we follow this guide when we want to work on both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 projects:

https://docs.flightsimulator.com/msfs2024/html/3_Models_And_Textures/Plugins/3DS_Max_Plugin/Updating_3DS_Max_Projects.htm

We need to uninstall both 2020 and 2024 Max plugins (if installed). Next, we need to install the 2024 plugin.

But this point confuses me:

“Now, before installing the MSFS 2020 plugin again, you should open each of the scenes created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 using the older SDK versions of the plugin.”

Should that be taken literally? Open ALL scenes before reinstalling the 2020 plugin? It could be hundreds of models.

Also, what are the criteria for when a project can be approved for release in MSFS Marketplace, is it that all scenes are exported with the 2024 plugin, or is it sufficient that a project is built with the MSFS 2024 SDK scenery editor?

Hello,

To clarify the pipeline, you will have to separate the MSFS2020 work from the MSFS2024 work. The materials, the gizmos and the lights are different in MSFS2024. If you want to work on both, you can keep a MSFS2020 version of your scene, convert a copy of it to MSFS2024 and work on each scene having the two SDK installed (using the tools from the core SDK 2020 for the MSFS2020 scene and the core SDK 2024 for the MSFS2024 scene).

Thank you
