Airport submission that moved and deleted windsocks did not remove original windsocks in production

Regarding: Airport

Frequency: The airport was published today. I’ve now visited it twice, and both times this has happened. But, since the airport is newly-published, I only have two data points.

For DevMode bugs, please include the game version: SU/AAU/WU XX - 1.XX.XX.X SU 15 beta 1.37.12.0

Bug description:
(Before I start, this bug report is not about moving World Hub windsocks in dev mode and seeing the old one after you moved it. This is about after an airport has been published.)

One of the airports I submitted via the World Hub was KCDW. In it, I deleted one windsock and moved another one. That’s in the notes I made for the airport. The airport got published today with AIRAC cycle 2404. With no old versions of KCDW in my Community folder, if I look at the airport in MSFS now, I can see the original windsocks that I deleted and moved.

One thing to note: I set the XML for the windsock to lighted=“TRUE”. Lighted windsocks are not supported today, but I don’t want to have to go back in and resubmit all airports when that feature gets added in the future. I think it would be easy to dismiss that as the root cause. However, I also did that at SAWH airport, and I moved that windsock and that worked out fine: There is only one windsock at the airport, which is correct. So the behavior is inconsistent.

Repro steps:

  1. Start a flight at KCDW airport.
  2. Look at the windsocks.

Expected result:
There should only be one windsock at the airport. The XML for the airport says that it should be at 40.87684951999690 -74.28070920846496 , which is right in the center of the airport.

Observed result:
There are three windsocks. The other two are in the positions where they were in the base sim before I edited the airport.

Attachments:
These are both pictures from production today with my World Hub addons removed from my Community folder:

  1. The moved windsock (foreground). You can see where I moved it from (background):

  2. The windsock I deleted in my World Hub submission:

Hello there,

After investigation, the second windsock comes from another file you can’t edit. Moreover, it should not be in this file. I’ll make sure it doesn’t appear in the next World Hub update.

Thanks for the feedback

Hello Nicolas,

I have encountered the same issue in KGBR, another airport that was published for SU 15 beta participants. The windsock inside the green rectangle is called “Windsock (Midfield)” in submission 110381. The one in the red rectangle is not in the World Hub submission.

I assume that this is the same root cause as before, that the one in red is in some other layer or file that we can’t access. Could it be removed, please?

Thank you!

Hello Nicolas,

I may have come across the same root cause, but with a control tower this time.

Below is a screenshot of LECO (A Coruña airport), the default (non-bespoke) version. In it, there is a control tower that is in the wrong position and that cannot be moved in the World Hub. The World Hub XML has a second control tower that is movable in the World Hub and is in the correct position. Is that incorrect control tower in another file, as well?

Is this the same kind of issue?
