Imported MSFS2020 aircraft - Inconsistent appearance in UI

Version: 1.0.72.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: High

Context: Multiple IndiaFoxtEcho packages: Long-EZ, Tornado, F-35 and others…

Bug description: Liveries and model variants (for MSFS2020 with multiple SimObjects) seem to have issues MSFS2024 UI.

Repro steps:
Long-EZ: multiple “aircraft” show in the aircraft selection list, although the package only contains a single SimObject (although with two cockpits). Whenever you select one, in any case, only Long EZ Red Silver is selected, and any of the three you select becomes Log EZ Red Silver once selected.

Tornado, M-346, F-14 and MB.339 are “consistent”. The packages have different SimObjects but they appear as “variants” in the UI, although no preview is shown which is a bit confusing. Their SimObjects appear in the MSFS2020 UI.

F-35, on the other hand behaves like in MSFS2020: three aircraft show with no variants…

It is NOT clear what is the rule MSFS applies to separate models/variants… and then there is definitely something odd with the Long-EZ.

Images - Three long EZ appear. Initially they show with different liveries, but once you click one they all become Long-EZ Red Silver.

The F-35, M-346 and Tornado packages all contain multiple SimObjects but:
F-35 appears as three separate aircraft (same as MSFS2020)
Tornado, M-346, F-14, MB.339 appear as individual aircraft with variants.

“Placeholder” shows in the variants (which is understandable) but given the variants are named by the first livery of the SimObject, it would be better to show the livery preview instead of the placeholder…

I had this issue with two of my products, if you want to fix this yourself just edit your aircraft.cfg file and ensure all these tags under your flight.N are consistent:

In my case:

ui_manufacturer="FSREBORN"
ui_type="500 Turboprop"
ui_variation="The livery name here"
ui_typerole="Single Engine TurboProp"
ui_createdby="FSReborn"

In order to get the result you want, the only thing that should vary between each flight.n is the ui_variation…

Hope this helps you.

Thanks Raul

Problem with the Long-EZ was that we credited the livery artist in the ui_createdby parameter. This screwed up the MSFS2024 UI.

Yep was the same thing in my case, I talked to my artists and they didn’t mind me changing this for the sake of keeping the layout correctly inside MSFS 2024.

But of course they are already credited on my EFB credits section.

Best,
R.
