Version:Flighting SU15 - 1.37.12 Frequency:Consistently Severity:High (rationale: it takes substantially longer to develop lights now) Context: In flight, as a developer, using the User Lights tool to develop/adjust aircraft lights. Bug description:
A number of things seem to have changed and the confluence is that the tool is no longer usable for basic tasks. I gave up once the checkboxes stopped working, and went back to SU14 which did work exactly as expected. I’m really glad to have SU14 for a little longer because any live tweaking of lights in the sim is basically impossible when this bug is present.
Lost the ability to isolate a light (force one light on and all other lights off)
I was unable to enable or disable lights at all (the checkboxes did nothing regardless of the ‘Disable light System’ checkbox state. This didn’t happen at first but once it did, I didn’t know how to make the tool do anything at all anymore.
I was unable to view effect positions (the checkbox did nothing or didn’t correlate to the selected light).
I was unable to edit the Emitter details, they’d instantly reset to defaults.
Repro steps:
Load the C172 G1000
Switch to external view
Open User Lights tool
Observe that ‘Disable Light System’ is already checked.
Select any light in the list.
Expected: The light should turn on and be visible, and the Emitter tab should be visible on the right side of the dialog
Observed: Nothing. The User Lights tool is inoperative. Activate All Lights does nothing at all as well.
Apologies for this, the tool will be fixed in a future update of the Beta (not the next one but the one just after).
I’ll let you know as soon as I know the exact version number.
There are still issues with the user lights, on initial start up the override is not working correctly, then closing the override - makes the emitter appear. sometimes a restart helps. so still a bit unusable for development.
Would you be able to give us more details on how to reproduce this issue?
What do you call “initial startup”? Is it the first time you open the tool?
What are the exact steps you follow that demonstrate the bug?
Can it be reproduced with any aircraft or with all of them?
Are you using another editor (such as the Aircraft Editor) while using the tool?
Open the sim - at world menu
Open your aircraft project - at world menu
Build aircraft using inspector
select aircraft at world menu
select airport - runway start
Fly
Ready to Fly
On runway open user lights and open aircraft lights debug
Notice user lights are set without emitter button - system remembers the setting - override light system- deactivate all lights - Should this really be the default?
un check override Light System - light def appears
Check show effects position - effects data appears
Turn lights switches on/off - emitter and not selected go on/off as expected.
Open Aircraft editor - on AE startup systems tab is shown to have changes with white dot on all my lights.
Can’t really reproduce my initial issue. as reported in another thread, the bad light data in the piston aircraft project template was used and I was working on that the get the lights to work.
Issue reported originally is fixed in SU15.
I was not able to reproduce the issue with lights being marked as modified in the Aircraft Editor based on actions in the User Lights tool.
If you still have the systems.cfg and can share it, I will have a look.
