UI Modifications for MSFS 2024

That was my question about the UI in the stream:

Has the UI system been totally rewritten, and Coherent GT been replaced, or is it an evolutionary development on top of the MSFS 2020 UI framework.

My MSFS 2020 UI/UX addons Aircraft Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz and Location Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz work only because I’m able to override the html_ui folder.

I realise MSFS 2020 UI system was never designed to be moddable per se, even though it was open code. I am still appreciative of the fact that this was open and able to be modded though.

I was able to improve the UX for a few people, especially with Aircraft Control Profiles in Aircraft Manager. This won’t be needed in MSFS 2024 as it’s now been resolved with the new functions in this area, but I still think it would be great if we are able to extend the UI as we see fit.

No design can solve every need, and it’s hard to say in advance what might be possible to implement. As such, open - with due care for stability - is a preferred option.

Please don’t lock down the VFS, as it will restrict opportunities to explore potential additions in this area. Ideally some method to extend the UI in a reliable manner would be ideal, in a manner that didn’t break functionality for other addons, and didn’t conflict so they may coexist.

This might also take considerable work to address at this late stage, so I can understand if that is off the table for now but would be great if it could be at least considered.

ps: I addressed some of these potential conflict and sim breaking issues in my FAQ
Q: How do Aircraft Manager/Location Manager work, and are there any sim breaking risks? Aircraft Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz

I’d love to be part of the process to work out an equitable solution to this issue.

I too have a mod which overrides Official html_ui - it provides much more compact nameplates. In this case I don’t think users would expect to run multiple nameplates mods, so a clash should be unlikely.

I do understand the need for the shared core components to be protected though.

Hello, I agree with my other two companions,

Golden Age Aimulation has invested more than 3 months of work in the modification and overload of UI to be able to bring a hml/js tool to achieve a basic but effective pre-flight. This one has been tested under DEV Alpha and seems to work perfectly.

It would be interesting if this possibility could continue.
