Version: * 1.0.77.0* (why isn’t this shown on the main screen or Release Notes?)
Frequency:Consistently
Severity:High
Marketplace package name: not yet submitted
Context: Terrain is uneven in an unrealistic way over runway surfaces.
Bug description:
When spawning at this 2020 build of CPL3, the runway and surrounding terrain is undulating, there are large bumps everywhere. In 2020 the runway and surrounding terrain is flat. It’s important to know if we need to modify 2020 packages to account for this and terraform under every large object that has to sit on a flat surface, otherwise e.g. hangar entrances will have very uneven terrain in front of them.
NOTE: this airport has the default runway runway Terraforming setting that should match default airport, with default profile, and no terraform polygons anywhere.
Additionally, the bumps appear inconsistent, if I reload the airport, sometimes they are at a different height or a different place in relation to objects placed on the surface (with stick to ground enabled).
Finally, there are rectangular terrain tiles that pop out of the ground in the airport area.
This setting does help a little for fixing some terrain issues. But water areas are still a mess. We get rivers with huge changes in height on rivers that are pretty much flat. Adding a poly with water is nowhere where it was is with 2020.
@Asobo,
Do you have any workaround for 2020-built airports to get rid of these secondary heightmaps? It ruins the grass runway of my glider airport, there is no “exclude secondary heightmaps” options in the 2020 SDK.
The 2020 airport is unusable in 2024 unless there’s a workaround.
Has anyone figured out any way to improve this issue in 2020 packages outside of creating a 2024 native package with an exclude secondary heightmaps poly? I know runways will smooth it out, but almost all of my grass parking areas or just general areas around the airport where I have models placed are all messed up.
It seems to be more prevalent in my packages that use rectangles with height maps/DEM.
Currently most of my 2020 packages suffer from this issue, and I’m waiting on other sim fixes before I can release a native package…
